Nepal: Earthquake in Lalitpur

Dhammakaya Foundation set up an Almshouse to assist the victims of the Nepal Earthquake in Lalitpur

Today, on the 1st of May, 2015 at 10.00 am Nepal Standard Time, Venerable Thavorn Thavaro, together with volunteers from the Dhammakaya Foundation led by Phra Thepyanmahamuni (Luang Phor Dhammachayo), set up an almshouse to prepare meals for the Nepal earthquake victims at Japakaw Village in Lalitpur City. There were over 300 people who came to receive the meals. The volunteers then proceeded to provide drinking water and tents to the victims in Kittipur and Khokhana.

“Japakaw Village in Lalitpur City is an affected area which is far from help. People in this area have been suffering from lack of shelters, food, drinking water and medicine.” Venerable Thavorn revealed.

The Dhammakaya Foundation has set up two Earthquake Relief Centers for Nepal Earthquake victims in Kathmandu, Nepal and at the Dhammakaya Temple, Thailand. The team from the Dhammakaya foundation taking part in this Relief mission comprises teaching monks and volunteers from Thai and Nepal who participated in the 1,112 Monk Mass Ordination in the Buddha’s Land of Birth Program held on November 12nd, 2011.
